On Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 June 2025, Oxford Population Health hosted the third Annual Symposium on Human Proteome and Health at Rhodes House in Oxford. The event welcomed 250 participants from 49 different institutions in 13 countries, bringing together leading experts from academia and industry on analyses and applications of proteomics in health and disease. The symposium included 27 oral presentations, three keynote lectures, one panel discussion on emerging technologies, nine ’rapid fire’ short presentations, along with 27 poster presentations. The programme was divided into seven sessions, covering:
- proteomics in large biobanks
- panel discussion on proteomics technology
- proteome epidemiology
- proteome genetics
- ageing and early disease detection
- disease deep phenotyping
- genome, proteome and new medicines.
The symposium was a closed in-person meeting of invited experts and researchers to facilitate exchange of the latest findings and new ideas and to foster collaboration. In addition, there was a formal training session prior to the symposium attended by 15 external researchers.
The organising committee, which is co-chaired by Professors Zhengming Chen and Robert Clarke, acknowledged the generous support from Alamar Biosciences, Illumina, Olink, Seer, and Standard Biotools. Prompted by enthusiastic feedback from symposium participants, it was agreed to host the fourth annual symposium on Human Proteome and Health on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 June 2026 at Rhodes House, Oxford, along with formal training sessions.
