The 2nd CKB Workshop on Chronic Infection and Health

On 16 May 2022, the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) group hosted the second Workshop on Chronic Infection and Health. Eight speakers from different groups in the University of Oxford and German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) presented their research. The programme included presentations on recent CKB chronic infection projects as well as updates on Covid-19 related studies that are being conducted in UK and Germany. These included genetic evidence for ancient coronavirus epidemics in East Asia using the CKB data, the Covid-19 antibody ‘serolomics’ study conducted in Germany and an overview of how the UK Biobank platform is being used for Covid-19 related research.  The impact of the pandemic on other infectious disease research being conducted elsewhere was also addressed. This workshop attracted audience members from various research groups and generated insightful and informative discussion between researchers from different fields.
