MOU Signing Oxford and Peking University

A delegation from Peking University headed by Professor Qimin Zhan its Vice President and Dean of Medical School visited Oxford on 19 September.

While in Oxford, Professor Zhan met with Professor Gavin Screaton, Head of the University of Oxford’s Medical Science Division and signed Memorandum of Understanding which covers the development of close collaboration with Oxford in research, training and capacity development. The signing ceremony included a short address by Mr Su-Nan Jiang, Minister Counsellor for Science and Technology from the Chinese Embassy in the UK.

The delegation included over twenty-five senior members of the Peking University who also attended an Oxford-PKU Joint Symposium on Precision Medicine which attracted over 120 participants. The programme included 20 presentations from researchers at both institutions. It focused on a range of topics including cancer research, the development of large biobanks, emerging multi-omics technologies and issues of mental health, dementia and psychiatry.
