Xinyi Yan
DPhil Student
Xinyi joined the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) research team in October 2024 as a DPhil student in Population Health. Her research focuses on investigating the metabolomic and proteomic profiles related to the association between adiposity and liver diseases, leveraging large-scale biobank data to explore potential biomarkers and pathways. She is co-supervised by Professor Zhengming Chen and Dr. Andri Iona.
Prior to starting her DPhil, Xinyi completed dual-degree undergraduate studies at Duke University and Duke Kunshan University, majoring in Global Health and Public Policy. During her time at Duke, she participated in several research projects centred on chronic disease management, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. She subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Global Health and Population from Harvard University, where she deepened her expertise in mental health epidemiology.
Alongside her academic work, Xinyi has interned with several healthcare consulting firms, including YiduCloud in China and Happy Life Tech in Boston, as well as pharmaceutical companies such as GlaxoSmithKline and Takeda. Her professional experience spans health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), real-world evidence (RWE) data management, and pharmaceutical marketing and medical affairs, providing her with a broad perspective on the intersection of health research and industry.
